2 army officers killed, 2 injured in Seremban car crash

SEREMBAN: Two army officers were killed and two others were injured in a single-vehicle crash here early this morning.

The dead were identified as Anwar Shaari, 23 and Amirul Zulkhairi Ismail, 24.

The four victims were in a Proton Waja, heading towards the Port Dickson army camp from Parit Buntar, when the incident occurred at 2.32am at Km267.2 of the North-South Highway (Plus).

"The driver of the car lost control of the vehicle and hit the divider on the left side of the road. The impact threw the driver and another passenger out of the car. Both victims died on the spot," said Seremban district police deputy chief Superintendent Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman.

He said two other passengers in the car sustained light injuries.

"The bodies were sent to the Tuanku Jaafar Hospital for post mortems. The surviving victims were sent to the same hospital for treatment," he added.

Sulizmie said all victims, aged between 22 and 24, served as army officers in Port Dickson and Johor Baru.

The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
