Take responsibility, Don't point fingers over Nothing to Hide 2.0 chaos

PUTRAJAYA: The organiser of the Nothing to Hide 2.0 forum should be man enough and take responsibility over the commotion which broke out on Sunday evening, instead of pointing fingers to others.

Padang Terap member of Parliament Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid, who is also the education minister, said, it was uncalled for them to allege that the ruling party had its hand in the incident.

"They blamed the ruling party, accusing it to have planned the incident. Why do the ruling party want to waste its time to make such a plan?

"The organisers, themselves, have wanted to hold the non-hold barred session. So now, there is nothing to hide and what is there to hide?

'For us, we condemn such act of violence. But, don't blame others for it. Let police to look into it," he said after the final choir competition organised by the ministry's sports and culture association.

Also present was Education ministry's secretary-general Datuk Seri Alias Ahmad.

Mahdzir was also of the opinion that the Nothing to Hide 2.0 should not have been organised in the first place.

"But, it still went on for the political mileage that those involved, including Tun Dr Mahathir (Mohamad) wished to gain."

The Padang Terap MP said the violence broke out when Dr Mahathir was asked about the 1985 Kampung Memali tragedy in Baling, Kedah which left 18 people, including four policemen, dead.

Mahdzir said, perhaps those who asked about the Memali incident had a personal connection to the tragedy.

Chairs, flares water bottles and footwear were among the items hurled into the crowd attending the Nothing to Hide 2.0 session in Shah Alam on Sunday.

It was reported a slipper nearly hit Dr Mahathir who was surrounded by his bodyguards.
