Two teens, believed to be sniffing glue, fall off building; one dies

KOTA KINABALU: A boy was found dead, while his friend injured, after falling off a building where they were believed to have been sniffing glue earlier.

Based on items found on the roof of an 8th storey building in Api-Api here, police believe they had sniffed glue there before falling to the corridor on the second floor last night.

One of the boys, aged 15, died while a 16-year-old boy remains warded at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital 2 here.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner M Chandra said security guards found the two boys after they heard a loud sound on the second floor.

“We have discovered a plastic containing glue can and another plastic containing glue. Two pairs of slippers were also found in the area,” he said, adding the boys were believed to have been sniffing glue prior to the fall.

Chandra said the younger boy from Penampang was pronounced dead by a medical officer from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital 2.

“Both victims are friends and there is no foul-play in the incident. At the moment, investigation is ongoing and we strongly advise parents to monitor their children’s movement to prevent them from indulging in unhealthy activities,” said Chandra.
