Artistes express heartfelt condolences to people of Kedah

KUALA LUMPUR: The demise of the Sultan of Kedah, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah, was widely mourned by the Malaysian entertainment industry, with artistes expressing heartfelt condolences to the people of Kedah via Instagram and Facebook.

Actor Farid Kamil who is a Kedahan, uploaded a photo of himself wearing a black songkok with a strip of white cloth binding it as a traditional sign of mourning.

He also posted a photo of the Kedah state flag flying at half mast outside Alor Setar’s iconic Masjid Zahir with the caption “Al-Fatihah”.

Pop queen Datuk Siti Nurhaliza, actor-producer Datuk Rosyam Nor, actresses Erra Fazira, Scha Alyahya and Siti Elizad Sharifuddin, host Datuk Aznil Nawawi and singer Rohana Jalil uploaded photos of Tuanku Abdul Halim with the message “Al-Fatihah” and “Salam Takziah”.

Likewise, rock legend Amy (Suhaimi Abdul Rahman) of Search and this year’s Anugerah Meletop top winner, actor Fattah Amin.

Actors Fasha Sandha, Bront Palarae and Sharnaaz Ahmad, and host Sarimah Ibrahim also displayed photos of Tuanku Abdul Halim on their Instagram accounts, captioned “Salam Takziah”, while actor Que Haidar from Kedah said: “Today is the saddest day for Kedahans.”

“As a Kedahan, I’m in mourning,” said singer-songwriter Amylea Azizan from Langkawi in her Instagram post.

Actor and businessman from Kelantan, Fizo Omar said: “Condolences to the people of Kedah on the passing of their beloved Sultan Tuanku Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah. May God bless and give them strength in this sad time.”

Persatuan Seniman Malaysia (Seniman) president Zed Zaidi likewise said: “Takziah to all Kedahans on the passing of their beloved Ruler.”

Comedians Shahrol of Shiro and Ifa Raziah said: “Al-Fatihah. May his soul rest in peace.”

Singer, actor and businessman Datuk Shah Rezza, a Kelantan royal, said: “Malaysia has lost a people’s King and Kedah a caring Ruler. I’m honoured to have known Tuanku as a Ruler who put the interest of his subjects first. He will be sadly missed by all Malaysians.”
