KUALA LUMPUR: The passing of the Sultan of Kedah, Almarhum Sultan Abdul Halim Mua'adzam Shah, on Sept 11 has not only left the rakyat in mourning, but the nation’s leaders as well.
Since Monday, everyone from the Prime Minister to Menteris Besar, and leaders from both sides of the political divide has taken to social media to express their grief, condolences and tributes over the loss of an incomparable ruler.
Here are their messages:
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak: “Innalillahiwainnailaihirojiun. I feel saddened after receiving news regarding the passing of the Sultan of Kedah. Almarhum Tuanku and I shared a great bond.
“Almarhum Tuanku was a great leader and highly respected through his tenure as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong for both terms, and also as the ruler of Kedah.
“He was also friendly, warm, prudent and loved by the citizenry. On behalf of the Malaysian government, I wish to convey my condolences to the Kedah royalty. May his soul be blessed and be placed among the believers. Al-Fatihah.”
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi: “Conveying condolences to the late Sultan of Kedah at Istana Anak Bukit. May he be placed among the Shuhada. Al-Fatihah.”
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein: "Innalillah. Just received the news of the demise of KDYMM Sultan Abdul Halim. May his soul be blessed. Al-Fatihah."
“My condolences to the whole family. I am on my way to Alor Star, Kedah to pay my last respects – Al-Mu'tassimu Billahi Muhibbuddin Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah Al-Haj.
Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai: "Extending my condolences to the DYMM Sultanah Kedah and the whole royal family over the demise of KDYMM Sultan Kedah. Almarhum Tuanku will always be remembered by the people of Kedah and Malaysia as the people's King."
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said: "Conveying my condolences. The rakyat, especially those from Kedah, have lost a Sultan who was very much loved and rakyat-oriented. Al-Fatihah."
Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak: “My condolences on the passing of the Sultan of Kedah Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah. May his soul be blessed. Al-Fatihah.”
International Trade and Industry Deputy Minister Datuk Ahmad Maslan: “May Allah bless Almarhum Sultan Abdul Halim. A Sultan who was loved by citizens, and someone who has always contributed to the country.”
Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali: "The Selangor state government wishes to extend its condolences over the demise of DYMM Sultan Kedah Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah. Al-Fatihah."
