Expo Negaraku 2017: Showcasing govt's commitment

PUTRAJAYA: THE Expo Negaraku 2017 exhibition to be held at Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur, from Nov 15 to Dec 15, showcases the government’s efforts to develop state-of-the-art infrastructure and carry out development projects for the people.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan said the exhibition was aimed at letting the people know about the government’s commitment to provide a better lifestyle for Malaysians.

“Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has envisioned for the mega-scale exhibition to be carried out and to act as a platform to display the government’s success in providing infrastructure, facilities and opportunities for the people, as well as future development projects,” he said in a speech, which was read by Economic Planning Unit (EPU) director-general Datuk Nik Azman Nik Abdul Majid.

Organised by the Prime Minister’s Department, the exhibition will be open from 10am to 10pm and entry is free of charge.

There will be activities prepared for the crowd, which include concerts, futsal and go kart competitions.

Rahman said the exhibition would be divided into five domes to represent the principles of Rukun Negara.

“The first dome will consist of a theatre to display videos on the development of infrastructure in Malaysia and how it has helped the people.

“The second dome will treat the public to a visual and electronic simulation of the infrastructure and facilities in the country.

“The third dome will feature successful programmes by the government to reduce the cost of living, provide job opportunities and quality lifestyle, while the fourth will feature an interactive video on the government’s commitment.

“The fifth and final dome will feature an interactive video on future developments and facilities,” he said.

Dataran Merdeka was chosen for its strategic location, which is easily accessible by public transport.

To date, Rahman noted, Najib had introduced mega-infrastructures such as the Pan-Borneo Highway project, Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High Speed Rail, East Coast Rail Link and Mass Rapid Transit, to improve the quality and standard of living of Malaysians.

“The exhibition will feature these mega projects to show the government’s commitment and dedication to develop the country,” Rahman said.

He said EPU would collaborate with the Transport Ministry, Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Ministry, local councils, Telekom Malaysia and the National Film Development Corporation to put together a great exhibition.
