No compromise on those spreading false news and information

SHAH ALAM: Selangor police chief Datuk Mazlan Mansor today warned netizens against spreading false news or information on social media platforms.

He said the police would not hesitate to take action against those who spread such information via social media or chat apps.

“Do not take this (sharing of viral messages bearing false information or malicious statements) lightly.

“Refrain from spreading slanderous remarks and false news that could possibly disrupt police or authorities’ investigation into a case.

With the use of handphones, one can effortlessly send a message that can become viral in no time. Within a split second, one can poison the people’s mind.

The police will not compromise should we find them (those creating and spreading false news),” he told reporters earlier today at the handing over ceremony of a Proton Persona to the Selangor police’s Strategic Resources and Technology Department (StaRT).
