Nine baby animals to make their debut at the Melaka Zoo

MELAKA: Just two months ahead of the school holiday, the Melaka Zoo and Night Safari will be showcasing nine adorable animals which were delivered here over the past two weeks.

Its chief executive officer Raja Segran said the nine new-borns were from various species including serow, pony, waterbuck antelope, bawean deer, Timor deer, eclectus parrot and mini hedgehog.

"It is a huge surprise for us. We are truly happy as we can say that they were born almost at the same time," he said.

Raja said the zoo management is constantly improving to provide the best for all animals.

"Their births are proof that we are trying to improve the quality of life of the animals here and creating more comfortable and natural exhibits for the animals.

"We also ensure that their diets are properly taken care of," he said.

He added that the newborns would be under close supervision of the resident zoologist and vets of the zoo to ensure that they are at their best before they can be displayed for public viewing.

"The zoologists and vets are closely monitoring their developments and their interactions with their parents and whether they are ready to mix with other animals," he said.
