Tahfiz school wardrobe fire triggered alert

SHAH ALAM: More than 20 firemen were rushed to a fire incident at a religious school in Section 32, here early this morning.

The blaze did not involve any casualty except for a destroyed wardrobe.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department operations management officer Alimaddia Bukri said they received a call that Tahfiz AlQuran Bidayatul Hidayah was on fire at 12.20am.

"Following the report, we immediately rushed 22 firemen with three fire engines from Shah Alam and Andalas stations to the scene.

"Upon arrival, the firemen were told that the blaze involved a wardrobe inside a room there, and had been put off by the public," he said.

The firemen then carried out checks as a precautions and monitor the scene before returning to their station.

Last month, 23 people were killed in a fire at another religious school in Kampung Keramat in Kuala Lumpur.

Seven teenagers have since been charged, two for murder and five for using drugs.
