Parti Warisan Sabah VP hospitalised while under remand

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan Sabah vice-president Datuk Peter Anthony, who is currently under remand, was admitted to a private hospital last night.

Anthony is currently under Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) custody to facilitate a probe into alleged mishandling of federal funds meant for rural development projects in Sabah.

An MACC source said Anthony had requested to see his doctor after his remand order was extended at the magistrate's court here, yesterday.

"The Magistrate (Cindy Mc Juce Balitus) has allowed Anthony to seek treatment at the hospital as requested.

"He is currently still at the hospital and our team will be monitoring him," said the source.

The nature of his ailment is unknown at press time.

Warisan lawyer Noorazmi Alimat said Anthony has been having medical problems, adding that he is on medication.

On Oct 5, Anthony was arrested at the Sabah MACC office here after providing his statement to assist the commission's probe.

His new remand order ends tomorrow.
