Four teenagers reported missing while hiking at Gunung Soga

JOHOR BARU: Four teenagers are reported to be lost after hiking up the Gunung Soga forest near Taman Bukit Perdana in Batu Pahat last night.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Abdul Wahib Musa said two of the teenagers are students from SMK Dato Bentara Luar, Batu Pahat.

The two are Mohd Amir Haziq Iqramudin and Mohd Azrul Azizi, both 14.

He said the details of the other two hikers have not been determined yet but police believe that they were of the same age.

He said the incident was reported at 7.15pm when one of the four hikers sent a message and his last location to another friend.

Based on this information, the police mobilised a search party with the help of the Fire and Rescue Department, Civil Defence Force and villagers.

"The incident may have occurred due to them losing their way at nightfall. The search operation began at 8pm last night," said Wahib in a statement.

A six member team led by Batu Pahat Fire and Rescue Department chief Fauzi Mohd Nor is conducting the search.
