MIC crushes MyPPP's plan to contest in Cameron Highlands

SEREMBAN: MIC today dismissed plans by People's Progressive Party (MyPPP) to contest in Cameron Highlands.

Party Information chief Datuk V.S Mogan said the party will continue to contest for the Cameron Highlands' parliamentary seat in the 14th General Election (GE14) as decided by party president Datuk Seri S. Subramaniam.

Early this month, MyPPP president Tan Sri M Kayveas expressed the party's intention to contest in Cameron Highlands' parliamentary seat.

Kayveas said he would contest under the Barisan Nasional (BN) ticket or go in as an independent candidate.

To this Mogan said: “So far, it has been decided that MIC will be contesting in Cameron Highlands. We, in the grassroot level will carry out the mission as decided by the party’s supreme council,”

He said various programmes and activities had been conducted by MIC’s Youth chief C. Sivarraajh who has been tasked as the Cameron Highlands' coordinator.

“The party’s Youth and Women wings have also held a survey several months ago and the result had showed that support from the people in the area towards the party and BN is still intact.

"Various problems occurred in Cameron Highlands too had been sorted out and solved by MIC.” he said when met at his Deepavali Open House in Rantau here.

On the possibility of a seat swap between MIC and MyPPP, Mogan said, he was not made aware if there was such a matter.
