MyPPP lodges police report against ex-president Kayveas, aide

KUALA LUMPUR: The People's Progressive Party (myPPP) has lodged a police report against its former president, Tan Sri M. Kayveas, and his aide, Kevin Ong.

In a statement today, myPPP Youth chief Sathiah Sudakaran said the decision to file the report was prompted by Kayveas's persistent claim to be the former president on various social media platforms.

The police report was jointly submitted by Sudakaran and myPPP Federal Territories Youth chief Aaron D'Cruz at the Dang Wangi police headquarters today.

Sudakaran said Kayveas was persistently claiming to be president despite the Home Ministry's official statement confirming Datuk Seri Maglin D'Cruz as the legitimate party president, endorsed by the Registrar of Societies (RoS).

He said the involvement of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission was also being sought to curb the alleged dissemination of misleading information by Kayveas.

"Currently, Datuk Dr Loga Bala Mohan is the acting president after the demise of Datuk Seri Maglin DÇruz. It is very clear that Kayveas is misleading people through his recent social media postings," he said.

Sudakaran said such actions indicated a lack of respect for the rule of law, despite Kayveas's seniority in politics, prior ministerial positions or legal expertise.

He said such postings aim to tarnish the party leadership's reputation, disrupt unity and sow chaos among party members.

The party urges swift intervention by the authorities and called for public guidance on the matter.

"It is important for political parties like myPPP to uphold internal discipline and respect legal decisions regarding leadership transitions.

"If Kayveas is indeed misrepresenting himself and causing disruption within the party, it is crucial for the proper authorities to intervene and ensure that the party can function effectively without undue interference," he said.

Kayveas was expelled by the party disciplinary board in 2018 due to misconduct and misuse of power as president, following complaints from senior members.
