Close friends die in Pahang motorcycle accident

LIPIS: Two close friends died when their motorcycle collided head on with another bike at Km4, Jalan Sungai Koyan-Kuala Medang here last night.

Mohamad Nasrul Mohamad Abdah, 25, and Wahadi Wahabat Rani, 23, died on the spot due to grievous head injuries in the 10pm accident.

District police chief Superintendent Azry Akmar Ayob said initial investigations revealed that the Honda EX5, rode by Nasrul with Wahadi riding pillion, was heading from Kuala Medang here before it hit the other motorcycle, a Yamaha 125Z.

"The rider and passenger of the Yamaha 125Z is understood to have tried to overtake two other motorcycles in front of them, before losing control (of the Yamaha 125Z) and ending up on the opposite lane which led to the accident.

"Both of them (rider and passenger of the Yamaha 125Z) suffered serious injuries due to the accident while two other motorcycle riders were also injured when they failed to avoid the two other bikes" he said today.

Azry said the two injured 17-year-old male teenagers of the Yamaha 125Z are currently being warded at Kuala Lipis Hospital, while the other two injured riders were given outpatient treatment at the Sungai Koyan Clinic.

He said the two deceased would be subjected to post-mortem at Kuala Lipis Hospital today, before being handed over to their respective families.

"Statements are in the process of being recorded from the (surviving) victims to complete investigation under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
