Floods in Kota Belud - 4 more relief centres opened

KOTA BELUD: Four more relief centres have been set up tonight as of 8.30pm, bringing the total number of centres opened to house flood victims to six.

The new centres are Muhibbah hall in Kampung Tombol with 224 evacuees, Gopog hall in Kampung Taginambur (36), SMK Taun Gusi 1 hall (400) and SMK Taun Gusi 2 (390), apart from the existing ones at Tun Said community hall and SMK Agama Tun Said hall (564).

The latest figures are based on Sabah Public Welfare Services Department report.

Earlier it was reported Tuaran district was also hit with rising water levels. Three shelters had been opened but opened but no details on the evacuees as of now.

The bad weather consisting heavy rains and strong winds are expected to last until tomorrow when Typhoon Lan made its way towards mainland Japan.
