All senior ministry and department heads meet KPIs, says Chief Secretary to Govt

PUTRAJAYA: Secretaries-general, directors-general and department heads of various ministries are in the Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa's good book.

Ali said he was extremely satisfied with their performance throughout the year as all of them had achieved the key performance indicators set for them.

"We will gauge the performance of civil servants from time to time especially those in the top management.

"I together with the Public Service Department director-general and Treasury secretary-general conduct interview sessions with the top management.

"If there is a need to prompt them to improve, I will do so," he said after presenting awards to 126 children of the the Wives of Civil Servants and Women Civil Servants Association (Puspanita) members who excelled in the 2016 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia, Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia and Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia.

Also present was the president of Puspanita, Puan Sri Rohani Abdullah.

Ali said he could see there was an upward trajectory in terms of civil servants' performance in general.

"It is an upward trend. (Based on what) I have seen over the time, it (the performance) is moving upwards."

On the upcoming 2018 budget, Ali reiterated his view that the budget would benefit all quarters.

"For the civil servants, I believe the government will take note on those who have performed well in implementing the national policies," he said.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak had recently given hints that there would be some good news for civil servants and that improvements to public sector would be announced in the 2018 Budget.
