GEORGE TOWN: Bukit Mertajam MP Steven Sim is urging all in Penang to come forward to help flood victims in the state.
Sim, in a Facebook post, asked the people to help in rescue operations especially near their areas.
He also appealed for food and water donations for victims at relief centres and those stranded in their homes.
“We need food and clean water….We need trucks or vehicles which can access flood areas,” he said.
Sim said for more than five hours last night rescue teams had to wade in waist deep waters dragging boats to help move the victims.
“It was very slow and exhausting. Most of the volunteers need rest…I appeal to you to help us help the victims,” he said.
