RM100m for 'Pulau Pinang Bangkit' as incentives for Penang flood victims

GEORGE TOWN: Penang government announced special incentives through ‘Pulau Pinang Bangkit’ programme with an allocation of RM100 million to help flood victims.

Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng made the announcements at the state assembly sitting today.

Among the incentives was a one-off RM500 payment for the 100,000 households affected by the massive flood on Nov 4 and 5. This involved RM50 million payouts.

Penang's Water Supply Corporation would give a 50 per cent discount on billing for domestic users, and 25 per cent for commercial users for one cycle (about two months) amounting to RM10 million.

The corporation would also exempt water conservation surcharge for domestic users.

Penang Island City Council and Seberang Prai Municipal Council would give a 10 per cent discount in assessment rate amounting to RM40 million.
