CYBERJAYA: The Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) received the Anti-Bribery Management System Certification Scheme from SIRIM for its transparency in rendering its services to the people.
In saying this, Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh said the recognition proved MQA, an agency under the ministry has observed and practiced high level of integrity in all of its programmes.
"The recognition proved that our agency is serious, transparent and sincere in conducting programmes and rendering services to the people.
"And we at the ministry, have always ensure that integrity is observed and practiced at all levels," he told reporters after flagging-off the MQA Run in conjunction with its 10th anniversary here, today.
MQA were among 11 organisations which received the award by SIRIM QAS International in collaboration with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the Association of Malaysian Certified Integrity Office.
The newly-launched Scheme is based on ISO 37001:2016 that outlines the need and provides guidance to organisations in detecting, preventing and responding to corrupt practices in line with the requirements of the MACC Act 2009, and other anti-bribery prevention laws.
Some 2,000 people participated in the three categories in the MQA run today; 5 kilometers (km), 10km and 15km. Runners also stood the chance of winning prizes worth more than RM20,000.
Also present were Deputy Higher Education Minister Datuk Dr Mary Yap, ministry's secretary-general Tan Sri Dr Noorul Ainur Mohd Nur and Education Malaysia Global Service (EMGS) chief executive officer Profesor Datuk Dr Rujhan Mustafa.
On a separate issue, Idris said the ministry has halted and rejected foreign students' applications to study in Malaysia, for being involved in criminal activities.
"Through EGMS and with the cooperation with Home Ministry, we were able to trace students who are involved in various criminal activities.
"The Interpol is also extending its support in making sure foreign students who want to pursue their studies in Malaysia, are free from any criminal records."
