SDFC takes proactive measures against corruption, adopts Anti-Bribery Management System

KUALA LUMPUR: The Skills Development Fund Corporation (SDFC) will be adopting the Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS) to further strengthen its governance, subsequently identifying corruption and abuse of power risks especially in work processes at the corporation.

The SDFC's initiative towards ABMS certification is carried out in collaboration with the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), a certification body accredited by the Department of Standards Malaysia.

Human Resources Minister Steven Sim, in a statement after his visit to SDFC headquarters, said the step serves as a guide, subsequently being established as a standard for all departments and agencies under the ministry.

He emphasised that the development of ABMS was driven by SDFC's excellent performance, following the reassessment of risks last year, which saw the risk level change from high to moderate by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

"These goals were also in line with the Malaysia Madani framework, which prioritises integrity and efficiency in public administration."

He added that the implementation of ABMS was a proactive step to ensure that SDFC staff adhere to work ethics and demonstrate a high commitment to combating corruption in public service.

He further asserted that SDFC, as the primary funder of skills training in the country, will continue to strengthen the national human capital development agenda.

"Additionally, SDFC remains committed to empowering technical and vocational education and training (TVET) by providing financing to encourage the community to pursue skill development.

"SDFC remains committed to ensuring all Malaysians enjoy the best services, thereby supporting the goals of the 12th Malaysia Plan to improve the TVET ecosystem and develop talents for the future."

Present during the visit were Deputy Human Resources Minister Datuk Abdul Rahman Mohamad; secretary-general (Policy and International) Datuk Amran Ahmad; deputy secretary-general (Operations) Datuk Norison Ramli and SDFC chief executive Mohd Fathullah Mustafa.
