KUALA LUMPUR: Skuad Sayang plays an important role to ensure Barisan Nasional win back the mandate from the people in the 14th General Election.
Skuad Sayang Patron Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor said the Wanita Umno squad are capable of carrying out many tasks and welfare programmes which would win the hearts of the people.
With 1.3 million members from 21,000 branches nationwide, Skuad Sayang will need to be on the forefront of the effort to ensure Umno and BN win in the next election despite having to face all sorts of obstacles, she said.
Rosmah said this in her speech during the 8th annual gathering with the Skuad Sayang patron here. Also present was the National Skuad Sayang Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.
“Changes in the political climate is getting harder to predict and we cannot be complacent with our position now. I am sure in front of us is a bigger wave and we need to be ready to work harder for the people.
"We need to be more prepared and be effective in our work so that we can win the people's heart," she added.
Other leaders who attended the gathering were Umno supreme council member and Malacca Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron, Selangor Umno liason committee chairman Tan Sri Noh Omar and Umno Pasir Salak division chief Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman.
More than 1,500 members of the squad from 12 states attended the annual celebration.
