Sultan Ahmad Shah honoured with two awards

KUALA LUMPUR: The Sultan of Pahang, Sultan Ahmad Shah was conferred two awards from two different world bodies for his immense contribution as the FA of Malaysia (FAM) president from 1984 until 2014.

His Majesty received the World Icon Leadership Sports Award from the World Society of Exercise and Sports Medicine (WSESM) and also the Royal Fellowship from the International Society of Sports Traumatology of the Hands (Issporth) which was presented by its secretary-general, Dr Loris Pegoli of Italy.

Sultan Ahmad Shah received both awards during the 1Malaysia-World Congress in Sports and Exercise Medicine dinner, held here last night.

His son, Tengku Arif Temenggong Pahang, Tengku Fahd Mua'adzam Sultan Ahmad Shah received the Royal Fellowship of the World Society of Sports and Exercise Medicine (WSSEM) for his active involvement in sports besides accepting the post of WSSEM Patron.

Meanwhile, former bodybuilder and ex-president of the Singapore Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation, Professor Dr Rano Izhar Rahmat, received the Fellowship of Society of Sports and Exercise Medicine of Malaysia for his relentless passion in sports despite suffering a stroke a couple years ago.

Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department director Datuk Seri Zukifli Abdullah, on the other hand, was accorded the Fellowship from the Society of Sports and Exercise Medicine Malaysia (SSEMM) for his contributions towards the development of sports and fitness among police personnel.

A total of 40 speakers from 32 countries shared their views and insights on sports science, paramedics and also injury prevention measures among athletes during the three-day conference which was organised by SSEMM with the theme of Optimising Human and Genetic Potentials for Greater Performances' that ended today. — BERNAMA
