KUALA LUMPUR: Kool 101 announcer Haiza Nordin was the favourite singer of the king's late father Sultan Ahmad Shah Al-Musta'in Billah who was the country's seventh monarch from 1979 to 1984.

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah revealed this when he and the Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah visited Kool FM in Seri Pentas, Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya yesterday.

He had a chat with Haiza and her fellow announcer Muaz Mohamad and she was delighted to learn about that interesting fact.

Sultan Abdullah then spoke to Molek FM announcer Mat Dan and asked him if he could speak the Pahang Malay dialect.

"I can speak a bit of the Pahang dialect Tuanku," he said.

Mat Dan is also famous for his travelogues and food reviews which use the Terengganu dialect.

During their visit, Sultan Abdullah and Tunku Azizah also had the opportunity to present their own brief news segment titled Buletin Diraja which was screened on Buletin Utama at 8pm yesterday.
