PM pledges help for Kelantan flood victims

KUALA LUMPUR: Kelantan folk affected by the flood will be given aid and moved to temporary relief centres, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Najib, via his Twitter account, said he will be closely observing the situation in Kelantan, and the government will help those living in areas hit by rising flood waters.

“I am monitoring the situation in several flood-hit areas in Kelantan, where residents are required to be evacuated to temporary relief centres.

“I hope that the public will remain vigilant and give full cooperation to the authorities. The government will provide assistance to those in need,” he said.

It was reported earlier that areas in Sungai Golok had been hit by floods.

The number of flood victims have increased to 891 people as of 6pm. They are now placed at 14 relief centres in six districts; Pasir Putih, Tanah Merah, Pasir Mas, Kuala Krai, Kota Baru and Bachok.
