SUNGAI PETANI: A 25-year-old man was found dead with a stab wound in his chest behind a house in Taman Arked here this afternoon.
A car believed to have been used by the man, known as Liu Chee Wee, was also torched behind some bushes about 1km from the body.
Kuala Muda district police chief Assistant Commissioner Saifi Abdul Hamid said police received report of the incident about 3pm.
He said a passer-by who noticed the man crying in pain in the back alley of the terrace house alerted the police.
“When we arrive at the scene the man was already dead. There was a stab wound to his chest, bruises to his left cheek and right hand that could have been sustained during a struggle with the suspect,” he told reporters when met at the scene.
Saifi said initial investigation showed the Perodua Axia car which was torched belonged to the victim’s friend.
He said the attacker could have driven the car to the bushes before setting it on fire.
He added police were investigating the incident and the motive for the murder.
