Zaid gives statement to police over alleged remarks against Sultan

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have recorded a statement from DAP member Datuk Zaid Ibrahim over his alleged remarks against the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.

Zaid, accompanied by his lawyer, reached the police headquarters at Bukit Aman at 9.30am.

He walked into the premises at 9.45am and was out an hour later.

Zaid said the questions asked by police revolved around his alleged tweet and that he answered all the questions.

“The tweet was made based on my personal opinion, and not reflecting opinions of any parties,” he told reporters after having his statement recorded.

He said people have pointed out that he was being seditious and rude but he said he needed to speak up.

Zaid said he was informed that police would call him up again for questioning if needed.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun yesterday said the case would be investigated under Section 4 of the Sedition Act 1948.
