SEGAMAT: The five members of a family who perished in an accident between a car and an express bus near Kampung Melayu Raya here yesterday evening have been identified as Muhammad Abu Dujanah Dzulkarnain, 30, his wife Zinnirah Abdul Hamid, 28, and their three children.
The three children who died were Nur Maghfirah, six, Muhammad Abu Ajwad, four, and three month old Nur Alia Humairah.
Another one of the couple's daughters, three-year-old Nur Ghaziyah Athirah, is still being treated at the Segamat Hospital and is reported to be in critical condition.
The family lives in Taman Ilham in Kluang.
The accident occurred at KM176 of Jalan Johor Baru - Seremban about 6.20pm when the family's Perodua Viva swerved into the opposite lane and collided with the bus.
Segamat police chief Superintendent Raub Selamat said investigations revealed that the accident occured when the driver of the Viva lost control of the car, sending it to the opposite lane. The bus was heading from Johor Baru to Segamat.
Raub said post mortems on the victims were completed at about 10 am.
"Family members of the victims are currently in the process of claiming their bodies."
