Four-day remand for lorry driver and assistant in Bota accident

BATU GAJAH: The lorry driver and his assistant who were involved in an accident that claimed the lives of three people near Bota have been remanded for four days.

Magistrate Mohd Fitri Sadarudin ordered the remand until Sunday to facilitate investigations under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 on the two men, aged 25 and 27, from Kelantan and Terengganu, respectively.

In the 6.30am incident yesterday, Ahmad Nor Al-Zaidin Ahmad Azzudin, 35, who was

the special assistant to Sungai Manik assemblyman Datuk Zainol Fadzi Paharuddin, died in an accident on Jalan Bota Kanan-Teluk Intan near Kampung Memali.

The other two victims were Al-Zaidin's sister, Nor Azita, 24, and wife Norhaslina Abdul Razak, 27.

Perak Tengah district police chief Supt Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said urine tests on the men turned out positive for methamphetamine.
