Media Prima's MindCampus mobile application to help students pick their university, courses

SERDANG: Easier access to a list of tertiary education universities, courses and scholarships is available for school leavers through Media Prima Berhad's latest MindCampus mobile application.

Media Prima today launched its newest mobile application, MindCampus, which acts as the reference centre for students to obtain information on available tertiary education choices as well as to further their studies.

This application equips users with a list of universities, courses and scholarships from both public and private sectors that are available in the country.

Speaking at its launch today, Media Prima Digital Chief Executive Officer Rafiq Razali said the MindCampus application was an initiative to adapt technology into the country’s education system.

"Parallel with the advancement of technology which has lifted the virtual world as an education platform, MindCampus can further boost the integration of digital into the national education system," he said.

Also present at the launch at Mines International Exhibition Conference Centre here was the New Straits Times Press Chief Executive Officer Datuk Abdul Jalil Hamid and the New Straits Times Group Editor Datuk Yushaimi Maulud Yahaya.

Rafiq said students who were mostly IT literate would be able to easily use the application to prepare, compare and decide on another important phase of their life in pursuit of the best tertiary education.

"The mobile application can also be used not just by the students but also their parents, in planning their children’s future. In addition, interested corporate bodies can also offer their scholarship programmes and expand their network through a two-way technology integration," Rafiq added.

MindCampus is an application developed by Media Prima Labs that allows users to compare courses and universities easily and efficiently before making a decision.

Interesting articles and insights on education and higher education will also be uploaded there so that users can benefit from the MindCampus application.

Abdul Jalil meanwhile said education was a social issue that was dear to the hearts of Malaysians and that was why they were honored to be a part of the student’s references after Media Prima’s involvement of over 30 years in education, from primary and secondary to tertiary.

"University is an important phase to decide the direction and survival of the younger generation and realising the significance of this we came up with MindCampus.

"After successfully producing quality education products through Didik, Minda, Skor, School Times, Varsiti, Higher Ed and Bestari pullouts, as well as FullAMark, now the success continues with the new MindCampus mobile application," Abdul Jalil said.

He said at NSTP, the aim was to provide more quality education products for the convenience of students apart from regular education workshops, seminars and coaching offered for UPSR, PT3 and SPM students.

He said that MindCampus was yet another of the company's effort to become the country’s one-stop education reference centre, in tandem with the shifting usage of technology and the education medium in our country.

"Not only is it compact with the required educational info, we want to give the less fortunate students the opportunity to realise what they have always dreamt of, with the platform that we have provided. This can indirectly help build their self-confidence, in addition to improving their market value in the actual working world,” Abdul Jalil added.

The NSTP Education Section, he said, was always optimistic in helping to elevate the quality of the nation’s education system.

At the same event, the NSTP Education Section also launched a new look for the educational initiative, FullAMark.

The highlights of the new look include an overall improvement in user experience, along with a new loading page interface, latest buzz, in addition to articles on primary and secondary education which can be surfed through FullAMark’s website.

It gives students a direct exposure on the diversity of High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS).

The FullAMark revision questions and exercises constructed based on the latest examination schemes and syllabus are prepared by authors of BH popular newspaper pullouts, DIDIK, MINDA and SKOR, as well as New Straits Times education pullout, New School Times.

"FullAMark offers exercise on four core subjects for Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) and Penilaian Tingkatan 3 (PT3) levels, including Bahasa Melayu, English, Science and Mathematics, wherelse for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level, the subjects offered are Bahasa Melayu, English, Mathematics and History.

"It also provides an e-Cikgu platform, which allows students to interact directly with experienced teachers, brought specifically to give immediate feedback to questions or problems arising during their learning process," Abdul Jalil said.

The interactive education portal developed specifically to help students complete intensive new exercises weekly was launched in May 2016.

Users can download FullAMark’s mobile application for free through their smartphones or tablets, which allows them to do the practice questions anytime and anywhere once they subscribe.

For the time being, FullAMark is running a promotional combo package involving 3, 6 and 12 months with a price as low as RM35 for four subjects. Individual subjects subscription is RM10. Users interested in subscribing FullAMark package can visit www.fullamark.com.my.
