Stroke patient escapes ambulance accident unhurt

JEMPOL: A stroke patient escaped unhurt when the ambulance he was being ferried was involved in an accident with another vehicle at Km10 Jalan Bahau – Kemayan here Wednesday night.

It is learnt that the 75-year-old man and some of his family members were on their way to Jempol Hospital, when the incident occurred at 7.55pm.

Jempol district police chief superintendent Muhd Nur Hishamuddin Hashim, said, all passengers in the ambulance, including its 51-year-old driver didn’t sustain any injuries.

“Preliminary investigation showed that the ambulance, which was travelling from Serting Hilir health clinic, collided with a Perodua Myvi car coming from Serting Tengah. The accident took place right after the ambulance passed a traffic light,” he said.

“The crash has damaged the front side of both vehicles. The Myvi driver, a 22-year-old woman and two passengers age 20 however sustained light injuries in the accident,” he said.

Muhd Nur Hishamuddin said the police are still investigating the incident and the case is being investigated under Section 43 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
