KLIA aerotrains back on track

SEPANG: Both aerotrains in Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) have resumed service at 3.48pm today after a disruption to allow yesterday's emergency maintenance works.

Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) thanked its engineering team for carrying out the urgent corrective maintenance works on both trains.

"Dear passengers in KLIA, we are glad to inform that both of our aerotrains are back in service since 3.48pm.

"We would like to thank our engineering team for working round the clock to carry out urgent corrective maintenance works on the train.

"We appreciate your patience and we would like to assure you that our airport operations teams across Malaysia are working hard to ensure a smooth and joyful experience for you during this peak travelling season,"MAHB said in a statement on its Facebook page.

One of the aerotrains at KLIA had earlier resumed service at 11.22am.

MAHB had provided 17 busses and three vans running continuously to ensure a smooth and quick journey for the passengers.

MAHB had said that more than 90,000 passengers were expected at KLIA on a daily basis during the peak travelling season.

It also advised passengers to be at the airport early to avoid unnecessary delays.

It was reported that the airport's aerotrains services had to be retracted to allow emergency maintenance works to be performed after a heavy usage between 8am to 8pm yesterday.

The disrupted train service had caused a delay in travel as hundreds of passengers wait for buses to transport them between the main terminal building and the satellite building.
