MACC takes serious view of CBT, abuse of power

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti- Corruption Commission (MACC) is taking a serious view of irregularities, abuse of power and criminal breach of trust involving government funds channeled to the people, nation development as well as public funds in private companies.

MACC in a statement today said this was reflected by the number of prosecutions brought to the court recently.

Yesterday, Zamrud Mansor, 77, and Hazizul Zamrud, 44, both senior officers at Melaka Industrial Skills Development Centre (MISDC) were charged at Melaka Sessions Court with committing criminal breach of trust by transferring RM4.3million to MISDEC Resources Sdn Bhd and another RM280,000 to seven supply companies.

Today, former DKSH Transport Agencies (M) Sdn Bhd executive officer Chan Foo Chin was charged at the Johor Baru Sessions Court with committing criminal breach of trust, abusing the company's funds by approving payment of RM864,000 via three cheque transactions.

"Therefore, MACC is seeking continuous public support to provide information on corruption, abuse of power and breach of trust, so that action can be taken against those responsible in accordance with the provisions of the law," MACC said.

"MACC will also ensure that the allocated funds reach the target community or target groups."
