MUAR: A Form Four student at the Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) in Bakri here drowned after he fell into the school's swimming pool yesterday evening.
Lukman Al-Hakim Mohamad Hairil, 16, from Saleng, Kulai, was pronounced dead about 4.30am today.
Muar police chief Assistant Commissioner Zaharudin Rasip said the incident happened about 5pm yesterday.
"Lukman, who was playing volleyball with his schoolmates, and tried to retrieve the ball that had fallen into the nearby pool.
"As he was reaching for the ball, he fell into the 2.7 metre-deep pool before being pulled out by his friends and a security guard," said Zaharudin.
He said Lukman was rushed to the Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital for treatment but was later pronounced dead.
