Dr Mahathir has fallen into Pakatan Harapan's trap: Idris

JERTIH: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has fallen into Pakatan Harapan’s trap by allowing himself to be named its prime ministerial candidate.

Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh said such a move would only drive a wedge between the Malay community.

“Dr Mahathir will be seen as a puppet prime minister and he will be forced to follow others blindly if the opposition pact wins the election,” he told reporters at the ‘Temu Murni’ event here today.

Idris also said he pitied Dr Mahathir for being “easily” influenced by DAP in its mission to create division among the Malays.

“Many Malays are puzzled and surprised by the Dr Mahathir’s decision to work with DAP, a party with an ideology that is not practical in this country.”

Idris, meanwhile, praised Pas for cutting its tahaluf siyasi (political cooperation) with DAP, saying Pakatan Harapan would not fight for Islam and the Malays.

He urged the Malays not to fall prey to DAP’s political strategies, which he said had made use of Dr Mahathir’s influence to lure voters.

The move in naming Dr Mahathir as Pakatan Harapan’s prime minister-elect, he said, was merely a trick to bamboozle the Malays.

The Temu Murni event was attended by some 300 members of the Malaysian Government Pensioners Association branch in Besut.
