KOTA KINABALU: A mother’s rage at losing her jewellery saw her swinging a meat cleaver at her three children, injuring them in an incident at their apartment in Putatan, Penampang.
In the 7pm incident last night, the woman had apparently told her four children, aged between seven and 15, to look for her ring and bangle, which went missing last Sunday.
When they failed to locate the items, the woman reportedly flew into a rage and hit them. She also threatened to kill the children.
The woman proceeded to pick up a meat cleaver and swung it in the direction of her children, with the intention of scaring them into confessing that they had taken her jewellery.
However, three of her children were slashed as a result.
The children fled in terror and asked for help from their neighbour, who brought them to a nearby clinic for treatment.
Penampang district police chief Deputy Superintendent Mohd Haris Ibrahim said the 34-year-old woman was arrested at her home at 10pm yesterday.
