Kelong entrepreneur found dead in Sabak Bernam

SABAK BERNAM: A 62-year-old kelong businessman was found dead at his premises in Pantai Bagan Nakhoda Omar (BNO) around 12.30am here today.

Sabak Bernam's Fire and Rescue Department chief Mohd Saufi Zakaria said Datuk Abu Hasan Said, along with his second child Muhammad Raiyan Asyraf, 22, and another friend were at the kelong, located about 10 nautical miles from BNO jetty.

“A team of 10 firemen rushed to the scene upon receiving an emergency call at 3.12am.

“We also received aid in the form of a four-wheel drive and rescue boats from Sekinchan and Sungai Besar fire and rescue departments,” he said when contacted.

Saufi said seven firemen and police used a boat to get to the scene, which took about 20 minutes.

“The victim’s body was brought to BNO jetty and subsequently handed over to the police for further action.

“The body was taken to the Tengku Ampuan Jemaah Hospital for a post-mortem,” he said.

The deceased leaves behind his wife, Datin Faridah Abdul Hamid, 52, and three children aged between 20 and 23.
