Musa Aman urges Chinese community in Sabah to continue to support government

KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman called on the Chinese community in Sabah to throw their support for the government and contribute in bringing political stability and continued progress to the state.

Musa said unity, harmony and values of acceptance that Sabahans have practiced would continue to contribute to Sabah's progress and prosperity.

"In carrying out development programmes in Sabah, the state government has never sidelined any race or ethnic group. This is proven by our commitment to allocate a large amount of fund each year to schools and non-Islamic places of worship, including to the Chinese community.

"We remain sincere in ensuring that the needs of all Malaysians in Sabah are met and protected in a fair and equal manner," he said at the Ang Pow Festival organised by the Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah (FCAS) in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration held at Hakka Hall here last night.

Also present was FCAS President, Tan Sri TC Goh.

In conjunction with the event, Musa also announced an allocation of RM50,000 to FCAS to organise the association's activities.

Musa stressed that the state government remains committed to ensuring the principles of political stability, economic progress and social prosperity are upheld, adding that the government will continue to work towards strengthening positive values for the people's benefit.

This also includes working hard towards improving the quality of life of the people and maintaining harmony as well as stability in the state, he said.

"I must emphasise that any actions that could create a negative impact on unity and stability must be avoided in order for us to achieve our aspirations to develop and bring further progress to Sabah in an effective manner.

"This will provide the government a boost to improve the socio-economic status of the people and to bring more growth," said Musa.
