Sabah ex-CMs including Musa Aman present at Gagasan Rakyat's AGM

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah has given the honour to four former Sabah chief ministers to be part of its annual general meeting (AGM) here.

Its president Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said he had a different approach than other leaders in this matter.

"For the past leaders and those who are no longer active in politics, we need to give them the honour to attend a meeting like this.

"I had extended the invitations to all former chief ministers, but some are not in Sabah. The rest, we extend our appreciation and (they are also) advisors giving their opinions about this struggle," he told the media after the Gagasan Rakyat's AGM held at Sabah International Convention Centre here.

The former chief ministers who attended the AGM were Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan, Tan Sri Musa Aman, Datuk Yong Teck Lee and Datuk Osu Sukom.

However, Hajiji said it was not for him to interpret whether the quartet endorsed and supported him to continue leading Sabah.

"I cannot interpret that way, but I think they came to give moral support to me and the meeting."

Pairin, who is the founder of Sabah's oldest political party Parti Bersatu Sabah, served as the seventh chief minister from April 1985 to March 1994.

As for Musa, he is the longest-serving chief minister, helming the state government from March 2003 until 2018.

Yong and Osu held the position when the two-year rotation system was implemented between 1994 and 2004.

Meanwhile, when asked about the upcoming state election, Hajiji said the current term is supposed to end in October, 2025.

"We have two more years to go, as a party president, I would like to remind leaders whether at the division or wings to be ready and mobilise their party machineries as two years is not a long time."
