Water supply disruption in Klang Valley next week - Syabas

KUALA LUMPUR: Residents in the Klang Valley will experience dry taps for three days beginning next Tuesday.

In a statement today, Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) said the disruption is due to a 10-hour critical equipment repair work.

The repair work is to be carried out at the Sungai Selangor Phase 3 Water Treatment Plant (SSP3).

Syabas said the plant will come to a complete halt during the repair work.

A total 427 locations in Kuala Lumpur, Petaling, Klang, Shah Alam, Gombak, Hulu Selangor and Kuala Langat will be affected.

The disruption will last between 8am and 9pm, depending on the locations.

"At present, the plant produces 800 to 820 million litres of water a day.

"With this huge amount, the recovery period of water supply to customers will vary from one area to another, depending on the geographical location and altitude of customer premises," said Syabas.

Customers are advised to store sufficient water supply before March 6.

A complete list of areas affected by the disruption can be viewed at www.syabas.com.my.
