Body of teenager feared drowned found near Pulau Giam

LUMUT: The body of a teenage boy was found floating near Pulau Giam here after he was reported missing while swimming with friends in Pantai Teluk Nipah, Pulau Pangkor here yesterday.

A search and rescue team found the deceased, J.Aishwar, 18, who was from Penang, at 1.15 pm today.

Manjung police chief ACP Muhammad Hanif Othman said the teenager and nine of his friends were attempting to swim from Teluk Nipah to Pulau Giam when the mishap occurred at about 1 pm.

“Halfway, eight of them decided to swim back to Teluk Nipah while two others, including the victim, continued swimming.

“The eight men were waiting at Teluk Nipah when only one of the two returned,” he said when contacted by Bernama.

The body was sent to Seri Manjung Hospital.
