SEREMBAN: The Home Affairs Ministry will continue to fight against threats to the national security, especially in relation to prevention of crime, violence and drugs.
Its minister and Deputy Prime Minister and Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said, various programmes held which to promote campaigns against crimes were beneficial to emphasise on the importance of safeguarding the peace and harmony of this nation.
"The ministry aims to establish a country that is free from all threats. We aim to establish a healthy and safe community in the country," he said in his speech which was delivered by Minister in Prime Minister Office Datuk Paul Low at the 'United Against Crime, Violence and Drugs' (UACVD) campaign, organised by Malaysia Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF) held in Sendayan here, tonight.
He said, programmes such as UACVD was meaningful and should be applauded as attendees were exposed to key messages of the ministry through the security exhibitions.
"One of the national agendas is to establish a healthy and caring society, and therefore we can't deny the fact the programmes such as this are beneficial to us because it is a good forum for us to deliver what goverment wishes to say to the rakyat. This will also give us the opportunity to get acquainted with them.
"Let us partner with the government to eradicate the negative elements that are insidiously destroying our beloved country. The commitment of all parties will enable our country to realise the aspiration of 2020," he said.
Also present at the event were Sultanah of Pahang Sultanah Kalsom Abdullah, MCPF senior vice chairman Tan Sri Dr Lee Lam Thye and MCPF Special Project Exco Datuk Seri Johnny Ch’ng Ewe Gee.
The event also saw the launch of SAS International Royal Club exclusive membership by Sultanah Kalsom.
Ahmad Zahid added, the minds of the young generation also needed to be filled with accurate information in regards to domestic security issue.
