Just comply with RoS' requests, Zahid tells PPBM

KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) should adhere to the party's own constitution and requests of the Registrar of Societies (RoS), Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said today.

He said RoS is merely performing its duties as mentioned in the Societies Act 1966.

Pointing out that he has no intention to interfere in RoS' matters, Zahid said as a political party, PPBM should just meet all the conditions being asked of them.

"The RoS is acting based on what is being mandated to them, requesting that PPBM submit the necessary information and documents pertaining to the minutes of branch meetings, divisional and annual general meetings," he said after chairing the Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation's (MCPF) 25th Annual General Meeting in Cheras today.

Zahid was commenting on reports that PPBM was at risk of being de-registered if the party failed to furnish answers and documents which the RoS wanted by March 29.

Yesterday, RoS director-general Surayati Ibrahim in a statement said the party could face de-registration under Section 14(5) of the Societies Act 1966 if it failed to submit information and documents pertaining to the minutes of branch, divisional and central party meetings as well as party financial statements.

She said a notice on the matter had been sent to PPBM on Feb 28.
