ARAU: Perlis Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azlan Man is leaving it to the Prime Minister to decide who is the best candidate for the MB post after the upcoming 14th General Election (GE14).
Azlan said Datuk Seri Najib Razak would know who would be the most suitable candidate for the post.
"It is the prerogative of the Prime Minister to decide who from Barisan Nasional is suitable to be appointed as Menteri Besar.
"So it is best for us to leave it to the Prime Minister, who is also Umno president, to decide and we will abide by his decision,” he told reporters here today after handing over Al-Mursyid Mosque project in Pauh here today.
Azlan was commenting on speculations that he was shifting to contest a parliamentary seat to make way for Perlis Umno liaison committee chairman Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim to return as the Menteri Besar.
Azlan said speculations at this point was not strange as the general election was looming.
On a separate matter, Azlan hoped that the Federal government would look into Raja Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail's wish for Wang Kelian Free Flow Zone to be re-opened.
He said the state government had submitted a letter to the Home Ministry to appeal for the zone located at the Malaysia-Thai border in Wang Kelian to be re-opened after it was ceased operations in April 2015.
