350,000 make Malaysia Bike Week a success

SERDANG: It was as if an army had invaded the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park in Serdang (MAEPS) over the past three days, as 350,000 people attended the Malaysia Bike Week (MBW) 2018.

Organised by the Federation of Malaysian Motoring Associations (GPMOTO), the event met its goals of attracting motorcycle enthusiasts from not just around the country, but also the region.

Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, a well-known motor enthusiast, graced the event.

The sultan was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is a superbiker.

GPMOTO president Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said the number of people who turned up was three times more than what GPMOTO had targeted.

“This kind of event bridges borders. All two-wheeler enthusiasts will attend, regardless of what kind of engine you have, or how powerful it is.”

As soon as the event opened at 9am yesterday, which was the last day, visitors swarmed MAEPS and took part in activities, such as a zumba session, a meet-and-greet session with TV3 celebrities, a lucky draw and a stunt demonstration.

The heat did not deter them from taking part in activities.

RM500,000 worth of prizes were up for grabs through lucky draws, including 40 Yamaha Y15ZR and Benelli RFS 150i motorcycles.

At night, visitors were treated to a concert, featuring artistes such as Datuk Ramli Sarip, Wanie Mentor, Datuk Jeffrydin, Datuk A. Rahman Hassan, Ella, Datuk Awie, Akim and The Majistret.
