#Offbeat: AirAsia personnel literally kiss luggage following baggage handling fiasco

KUALA LUMPUR: AirAsia has faced heavy turbulence in the wake of last week’s baggage-mishandling controversy, which triggered the wrath of air travellers and netizens nationwide.

The incident – which saw baggage handlers at klia2 roughly grab, toss and heavily drop rather precious cargo – was caught on video and went viral on social media, denting and scuffing the airline’s reputation in the process.

AirAsia Group chief executive officer Tony Fernandes appeared to be equally horrified, and was quick to apologise over the incident, promising “to do better.”

Ironically, just a month prior to the incident, Fernandes had appeared in a candidly-shot video instructing baggage handlers to treat check-in luggage with great care – going so far as to tell his staff to “kiss the bags.”

Following last week’s fiasco, AirAsia’s baggage handlers seem to have taken the advice to heart, as a series of photos has been posted on Facebook showing them LITERALLY smooching and hugging myriad check-in items.

From the tarmac to the conveyor belt, everything from suitcases to duffel bags is seen romanced and embraced by an array of fluorescent-uniformed men who seem to be truly contrite over the ugly incident.

As of today, the post containing the images has been shared thousands of times on social media – which may mean that AirAsia and the flying public have kissed and made up. – SAYS.COM
