Police allow 10 Bersih supporters to enter Parliament building [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 10 Bersih supporters were allowed to enter the Parliament building to submit a memorandum protesting against the Election Commission's (EC) redelineation report.

Bersih is looking to submit the memorandum to Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin.

The permission was given by the Dang Wangi district police chief Assistant Commissioner Shaharuddin Abdullah, after some 200 Bersih supporters gathered at Tugu Negara.

“As of 9.35am, we were told that the organiser is waiting for the appearance of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chairman, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

“We are monitoring and controlling the situation to avoid unwanted incident,” he said at the scene.

Meanwhile, as of 9.45am, several opposition leaders were spotted at the venue with Bersih supporters.

They include PPBM president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Parti Amanah Negara president Mohamad Sabu, Ampang and Batu member of parliament Zuraidah Kamaruddin and Tian Chua.

Police had closed off the main road to the Parliament including Persiaran Sultan Salahuddin since 8am. Police also inspected vehicles using the route.
