Sabah police identify election hotspots, prepared for all eventualities

KOTA KINABALU: Police have identified several hotspots during the 14th General Election.

State Police Commissioner Datuk Ramli Din said they would ensure that everything was in order during the election.

He said police had undergone training that would help them to handle unexpected situations.

“Of course, security will be prioritised. Police are ready to face all eventualities throughout the election, including during nomination, campaign, voting and after the results are announced,” he said adding that they had adequate manpower.

Ramli said this at a blood donation campaign involving more than 400 policemen in conjunction with the 211th Police Day here. The target was to collect 500 bags of blood.

Present was Likas Women and Children’s hospital director Dr Tan Bee Hwai.

Ramli said police hoped that there would not be any untoward incidents during the election.

He said an operation centre would be open round-the-clock in every police district.

“We will not include personnel from the Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) to ensure safety in the east (coast of Sabah).”
