Aman Central a hotspot for Kedah retail sector

ALOR STAR: Aman Central, the largest shopping mall in the city, has been lauded for its role in propelling the Kedah retail sector since it commenced operations in October 2015.

The state Entrepreneurs Development Committee chairman Datuk Suraya Yaacob said the ability of the mall to attract over one million shoppers every month proved that the country's economy was in good shape.

Suraya, who is also the state Women, Agriculture and Agro-based Industry, Welfare and Families Development Committee chairman said Aman Central not only attracted Kedahans but also shoppers from neighbouring states, up to southern Thailand.

"During major festive periods such as Christmas, Chinese New Year, and Hari Raya Aidilfitri the number of shoppers spiked up to 1.2 million and 1.3 million.

"This has created a spillover of petty traders in the Aman Central vicinity, which makes the mall a catalyst for economic growth in this area," she said after opening the "Japan Endless Discovery" campaign at the mall here today.

She also praised the Aman Central management for coming up with creative promotion campaigns to attract more shoppers to the mall.

Suraya said the "Japan Endless Discovery" campaign offered a unique experience to shoppers who visited the mall throughout this month.

"I suggest that entrepreneurs out there learn from the Aman Central management's success in coming up with various interesting strategies to attract shoppers and visitors," she said.

A total of 11 booths displaying Japanese products are on display at the mall's central atrium, including popular Japanese delicacy, Mochi which is being produced in Jeniang.
