C-Cycle challenge postponed

KUALA LUMPUR: THE second edition of the C-Cycle Challenge 2018, scheduled on May 13, has been postponed to Sept 23.

The original time and the venue of the event at Eco Sanctuary, south of Kota Kemuning in Teluk Panglima Garang, remain unchanged.

New Straits Times Press Bhd (NSTP) chief executive officer Datuk Seri Abdul Jalil Hamid said the postponement was to avoid the 14th General Election on May 9 and other cycling events.

“On behalf of NSTP and the C-Cycle Challenge Committee 2018, I offer our sincere apologies for this difficult but avoidable postponement,” Jalil said in a statement yesterday.

The new date, he said, would give organisers more time to plan and promote the event, touted as the nation’s premier cycling challenge.

“The event, which aims to unite Malaysians, will be very timely with the Merdeka Day and Malaysia Day celebrations on Aug 31 and Sept 16, respectively.” said registered participants who wish to cancel for a full refund could do so before May 9. All requests for refunds would not be entertained after the date.

“We understand the inconvenience that this may cause everyone, especially the riders, who have confirmed their participation.

“As such, we shall reimburse registered riders who have paid but who wish to cancel their participation,” he said.

Held in partnership with property developer Eco World Development Group Bhd, with Bank Muamalat Malaysia Bhd as the event’s official bank and Treknology as product sponsor, this year’s C-Cycle Challenge is expected to attract 1,300 participants.
