Internal problem brewing in Sungai Siput PKR

SUNGAI SIPUT: Trouble is brewing in the Sungai Siput PKR division with some members dissatisfied over an outsider who will be named as candidate in the 14th General Election (GE14).

A group of disgruntled Sungai Siput division members have voiced their unhappiness to a senior party leader in the division.

Aminuddin Mohd Shukri who represented the group said they have their own candidate named Syed Ahmad Putra Syed Isa who is local and capable of bringing changes in Sungai Siput.

“The Kampung Muhibbah branch chairman (Syed Ahmad Putra) is now serving as an aide to incumbent Sri Andalas state assemblyman Dr Xavier Jayakumar,” he told reporters at MH Hotel here today.

Aminuddin claimed that a senior party leader who lost the confidence of the majority of the committee had attempted to bring in an outsider of the division and introduced the person as a candidate.

“He also makes decisions without consulting the committee members. Outsiders are not welcome as the individual cannot assess the local issues.

“The matter has been brought to the attention of the party leadership before and I hope that this will open their eyes to the problems with the leader,” he added.

Aminuddin added that the group also planned to lodge a police report soon as well as with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for lack of transparency in the financial management of the division and misuse of power.

The Sungai Siput parliamentary constituency is currently held by Dr Michael Jeyakumar Devaraj of PSM. It will see a multi cornered fight with BN, PKR and PAS fielding their candidates.
